CMPD is investigating homicide in southwest Charlotte

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred Thursday morning in southwest Charlotte. According to a statement by CMPD, shortly before 6:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious person call near the 7800 block of Riding Trail Road. A UNC alum is delivering diverse heroes in a series of graphic novels

Earnest Winston terminated from CMS Superindendent role

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) is once again without a superintendent. In an emergency meeting on Tuesday, the CMS Board of Education voted 7-2 to fire Earnest Winston due to unsatisfactory performance. He was CMS’ fifth superintendent within 10 years and took on the role in 2019.
