Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department charged a man for a violent sexual assault on Friday in west Charlotte.
Police identified the suspect as Octavis Wayne Deandra Wilson. Wilson,29, is charged with first degree kidnapping, second degree forcible rape, attempted second degree forcible sexual offense, assault on a female, and sexual battery.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, around 11:30 p.m., the victim was walking home when she was approached by a man in the 3800 block of Glenwood Drive.
The suspect started conversation with the victim but shortly afterward he forced her away and brutally physically and sexually assaulted her, police say.

Investigators said the victim was able to get away and call 911.
On Saturday, CMPD shared surveillance photos of the man they named as a person of interest, but later released a tweet that he had been arrested.
The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information or witnessed the incident is asked to call 704-336-3600 to talk with detectives.
