One dead following shooting in southeast Charlotte

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning that left one person dead.

According to a statement by CMPD, shortly after 2:01 a.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call in the 6800 block of Farthington Circle. 

 When they arrived, officers located one victim with an apparent gunshot wound lying outside near the apartments.  

Medic responded and pronounced the victim deceased.
