Around 11 a.m. on a cool, windy Saturday, hundreds of people flooded the Macedonia Baptist Church for the home going service of Charlotte-native Shanquella Robinson.

The church was filled to capacity with people displaying a range of emotions. Some people held onto their loved ones as they let their tears flow in sorrow, while others joyfully participated in the praise and worship of the service.

Robinson, 25, recently made national news after to trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Robinson visited alongside a group of six friends on Oct. 28 and died a day later.

Robinson’s parents told several news outlets that friends from the trip initially shared with them that their daughter died of alcohol poisoning. Later, autopsy reports listed the cause of death as “severe spinal cord injury and atlas luxation.”

The circumstances of her death are currently being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, but people around the country have become impatient for answers.

The public, both locally and nationally, want justice to be served, widely circulating the hashtag #JusticeForQuella on social media.
