What’s at stake in today’s elections


It’s election day across the United States, and already more than 2.1 million of North Carolina’s 7.4 million eligible voters have cast ballots.

So what’s at stake this non-presidential year?

Control of the U.S. House and Senate

Democrats currently control the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate by thin margins. History indicates that the political party of the incumbent president is very likely to lose seats during midterm election.
